Are you looking for a role where accuracy really matters and where you can make a genuine difference to people’s day-to-day experience at work?

You’ll join a friendly and committed payroll team within Transformative Business Services (TBS), where we take pride in delivering a reliable and trusted service. Working on behalf of our client MPS, supporting a workforce of circa 85,000 employees across three payrolls and two pensioner payrolls, you’ll play an important role in ensuring colleagues are paid accurately and on time. You'll be part of a supportive culture where colleagues share knowledge, help each other out and work together to provide a great service to our customers.
Role Overview
This is a full time hybrid role, with Newport as your base, and you’ll be in the office twice per week on Tuesday and Wednesday and working from home the rest.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering accurate weekly and monthly payrolls within agreed deadlines and in line with legislation, terms and conditions, audit requirements and service level agreements.
- Investigating and resolving complex pay queries, ensuring customers understand changes that affect their pay.
- Processing payroll transactions including employment and personal changes, statutory payments, pension contributions, ad hoc payments and deductions, and termination payments.
- Validating temporary and permanent payroll changes, completing underpayment and overpayment adjustments, and maintaining accurate payroll records.
- Processing legislative and statutory payroll documentation, including tax, pension and payroll-related notifications.
- Supporting payroll outputs, payslip production, customer correspondence and continuous improvement activities across payroll operations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
