Job Title
We are looking for a highly organised, detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Administrator to support the accurate and timely processing of payroll across the organisation.
About the Role
The successful candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced payroll environment, ideally with responsibility for multiple payrolls, and will be confident managing competing priorities and tight deadlines. Experience using Workday is highly desirable.
The role will involve maintaining accurate payroll records, processing payroll data, responding to employee queries, and ensuring payroll activities are completed accurately and in line with company policies and relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Process multiple payrolls accurately and within agreed deadlines.
- Manage payroll activities across different employee populations, locations, or business units.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records.
- Input and verify payroll information, including new starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, bonuses, allowances, deductions, and absences.
- Process statutory payments and deductions, including PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and other applicable deductions.
- Complete payroll checks, reconciliations, and validation prior to payroll submission.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and errors promptly.
- Respond to employee and manager payroll queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Process new starter and leaver information and ensure all relevant documentation is completed.
- Administer payroll-related changes, including promotions, salary increases, contractual changes, and benefit deductions.
- Support pension administration and ensure accurate payroll deductions.
- Prepare payroll reports and provide payroll information to HR, Finance, and management as required.
- Support payroll year-end activities and statutory reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails for payroll processing.
- Liaise with HR, Finance, payroll providers, pension providers, HMRC, and other relevant third parties.
- Ensure strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and payroll information.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiency.
- Ensure payroll activities are completed in accordance with company policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.

- Previous experience working in a payroll administration or payroll processing role.
- Experience processing multiple payrolls simultaneously or managing payroll for multiple employee populations.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with tight and competing deadlines.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes and procedures.
- Good knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments, and workplace pensions.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- A proactive approach with the ability to identify and resolve payroll issues.
- Experience using Workday, particularly Workday Payroll or Workday HCM.
