About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our team and play an important role in delivering an accurate, efficient and high-quality payroll service. This is a hands-on role for someone who already has a good understanding of payroll and has experience managing the full end-to-end payroll process. You'll be responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time, responding to queries, investigating discrepancies and ensuring everything is completed in line with current payroll legislation and company requirements.
You don't need to know every payroll system — experience of InPay would be an advantage, but it's not essential. We're more interested in someone with strong practical payroll experience, good attention to detail and a solid understanding of UK payroll legislation. A CIPP qualification would also be advantageous, but is not essential for the right candidate.
What You'll Be Doing
- Process full end-to-end payroll, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
- Process payroll data, checking information carefully and completing relevant validations.
- Respond to payroll queries received through ticketing systems and telephone, ensuring they are dealt with promptly and accurately.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and queries.
- Process advance payments, adjustments and other payroll amendments.
- Ensure payroll is processed in line with current UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, tax codes, pensions and statutory payments.
- Keep up to date with relevant changes to payroll legislation.
- Handle confidential employee and financial information appropriately and in line with GDPR requirements.
- Work towards individual and team KPIs and agreed service levels.
- Complete weekly tasks and activities assigned by the Team Leader/Manager.
- Work collaboratively with other payroll teams across the department, supporting cross-training and business requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, helping to identify ways to improve processes and the customer experience.
- Provide support to colleagues across the wider payroll team where required.
- Maintain accurate payroll and financial records.
- Support internal and external implementations and changes when required.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with solid practical payroll experience who is comfortable working across the full payroll cycle.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience of full end-to-end payroll processing – essential.
- A good working knowledge of UK payroll legislation – essential.
- Experience investigating and resolving payroll queries and discrepancies.
- Experience working to deadlines, SLAs and KPIs.
- Good understanding of PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, tax codes and statutory payments.
- Previous customer service or payroll support experience.
- Good IT and systems skills, with the ability to learn new payroll systems quickly.
- CIPP qualification – desirable, but not essential.
- InPay experience – desirable, but not essential.

- Is keen to learn and develop their payroll knowledge.
What You'll Bring
We're not looking for someone who necessarily knows every payroll system or has years of specialist payroll experience.
We're looking for someone who knows payroll, has experience managing it from start to finish and understands the legislation that sits behind it.
If you've got strong practical payroll experience, excellent attention to detail and the right attitude, we'd love to hear from you.
InPay experience and a CIPP qualification would be a bonus.
