Payroll Administrator
£29,000 - £36k + Bonus
4 days a week office, 1 day from home
Permanent and Full Time
Payroll Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate employee records and enter new starter details into the payroll system.
- Manage the payroll process for employees joining and leaving the organisation, ensuring all relevant documentation is completed correctly.
- Produce and distribute statutory payroll documentation, including P45s and P60s.
- Complete right-to-work and employment eligibility checks for new employees.
- Support the end-to-end processing of multiple weekly payrolls covering a large and diverse employee population.
- Prepare payroll journals and ensure payroll information is accurately transferred to the relevant finance systems.
- Investigate and reconcile payroll and salary-related discrepancies, working closely with Finance where required.
- Calculate and process a range of payroll adjustments, including statutory leave, sickness payments, pension deductions and other employee changes.
- Ensure payroll activity complies with current legislation and statutory reporting obligations, including Real Time Information (RTI).
- Communicate with HMRC and other relevant external bodies regarding payroll and employee matters.
- Prepare pension and auto-enrolment data and submit required information to external pension providers.
- Review employee timesheets, investigate anomalies and make appropriate amendments ahead of payroll deadlines.
- Use Excel to analyse payroll and timesheet information, producing reports to identify trends, discrepancies and areas requiring attention.
- Work collaboratively with Finance and other internal teams to resolve payroll issues and ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Provide ongoing support throughout the weekly payroll cycle, helping to ensure all deadlines and controls are met.
- Respond to employee payroll queries professionally and efficiently, providing clear guidance by phone and email.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and complete associated administrative tasks as required.
