Payroll Administrator – Near Lewes

Up to £30,000, with potential flexibility

Hybrid working – 3 days in the office and 2 from home

Permanent, full-time

I’m working with a modern and growing payroll bureau that is looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join its team.

This is a varied role managing the end-to-end payroll process for a portfolio of clients across multiple pay frequencies, while acting as their main point of contact for payroll-related queries.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of clients
  • Inputting and validating payroll data accurately
  • Reconciling payroll information and producing reports and payslips
  • Preparing payroll journals and PAYE reconciliations
  • Creating and submitting BACS payment files
  • Managing Pension Auto-Enrolment and ongoing compliance
  • Preparing pension scheme returns and processing member changes
  • Liaising with clients, HMRC, pension providers and internal teams
  • Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and best practice

Ideally you will have:

  • Previous experience within a payroll bureau environment
  • Experience managing multiple payrolls and working to strict deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and statutory payments
  • The ability to manually calculate tax, NI, pensions and statutory deductions
  • Knowledge of statutory family leave, SSP, salary sacrifice and auto-enrolment
  • Strong client communication and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • Intermediate Excel skills and confidence using payroll systems
  • A proactive and adaptable approach
