Job Title: Payroll Administrator

Salary: Up to £35,000
Location: Coventry
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Working: Office-based

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity for an experienced bureau or accountancy practice payroll professional looking to develop beyond traditional payroll processing and progress towards a more Payroll Adviser-focused role.

You’ll take greater ownership of client relationships, act as a trusted point of contact and play an active role in delivering an exceptional service.

The business is also embracing AI, automation and new technology, making this an opportunity for someone who wants to develop with the future of payroll.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payrolls across a portfolio of clients.
  • Manage client queries and act as a key point of contact.
  • Build strong client relationships and provide payroll guidance.
  • Complete payroll checks and audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support the Senior Payroll Manager with workload allocation and team development.
  • Train and mentor junior team members where required.
  • Maintain accurate client records and payroll documentation.
  • Ensure payrolls are delivered accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Keep up to date with UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements.

About You

  • Strong bureau or accountancy practice payroll experience.
  • Good knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE, statutory payments, pensions and auto-enrolment.
  • Confident managing multiple clients and competing deadlines.
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills.
  • Commercially minded, proactive and solutions-focused.
  • Ambitious to develop beyond payroll processing.
  • Staffology experience advantageous, but not essential.
