Graduate Payroll & Expenses Administrator
£27,000 - £29,000 + benefits
Guildford – Hybrid Working (3 Days On-Site)
We're supporting a well-established professional services business that is looking to appoint a Graduate Payroll & Expenses Administrator to join its finance team.
This is a great entry-level opportunity for a recent graduate or someone at the beginning of their finance career. You'll work closely with an experienced Payroll Manager, supporting the monthly payroll process alongside employee expenses, benefits and general finance administration.
You don't need extensive payroll experience. We're looking for someone organised, numerate and detail-focused who wants to learn and develop within a professional finance environment. Having experience in finance, accounting, HR or administration is highly beneficial.
The Role
Reporting into the Payroll Manager, you'll provide day-to-day support across payroll and expenses, helping ensure employee information is accurate and everything is ready for the monthly payroll cycle.
You'll initially focus on administration, data checks, expenses and employee queries, with the opportunity to gradually develop your knowledge across reconciliations, payroll journals, pensions, statutory deductions and month-end.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
