Job Title
This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys managing client relationships, ensuring compliance, and delivering a high-quality service to a varied client base.
You will take responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operation of our bureau payroll service, ensuring payrolls are processed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with current legislation.
Our payroll team provides a comprehensive and flexible service for businesses ranging from single-employee companies to organisations with over 100 employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the end-to-end payroll process for a portfolio of clients.
- Leading and supporting payroll team members.
- Ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time each pay period.
- Maintaining compliance with HMRC regulations, PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, statutory payments, and payroll legislation.
- Managing payroll-related reporting and submissions, including RTI.
- Overseeing payroll audits and ensuring payroll controls are effective and compliant.
- Monitoring legislative changes and implementing necessary payroll process updates.
- Processing year-end payroll activities, including P60s and statutory returns.
- Producing standard and bespoke payroll reports for clients.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Advising clients on payroll legislation and best practice.

About You
We are looking for someone who combines strong technical payroll knowledge with excellent organisational and client management skills.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Significant payroll experience within a payroll bureau, accountancy practice, or multi-client payroll environment.
- Previous team leadership or management experience.
- Strong working knowledge of PAYE, RTI, statutory payments, pensions, and auto-enrolment.
- Experience managing payrolls for multiple clients and varying payroll frequencies.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and client relationship skills.
- Ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency using payroll software and Microsoft Office.
