Location: Remote
Contract: Permanent, full time, 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Department: People Team
Pay: Band 6 - £33,596.37 per annum

About the Role
We are recruiting a Payroll Advisor to help deliver an accurate and timely payroll service for colleagues across GFSL. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of payroll data, supporting the Payroll Supervisor, and managing payroll activity throughout the monthly cycle. The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to resolve issues effectively to maintain a high-quality service.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within public sector frameworks and contribute to a function that underpins operational performance across the organisation.
What We Are Looking For
Essential
- Payroll knowledge and practical experience
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams
- Knowledge of HR and organisational policies that impact payroll input and output
- Understanding of the end-to-end payroll cycle
- Legislative knowledge and the ability to maintain up-to-date understanding
- Experience working with Oracle Fusion payroll systems

Desirable
- Knowledge of statutory payroll requirements
- Strong numeracy, analytical skills, and the ability to interpret and communicate data from multiple sources
What You Will Do
- Ensure monthly payroll is processed accurately and on time
- Input and validate payroll transactional data to ensure correct colleague payments
- Support the Payroll Supervisor with payroll audits and checks on data accuracy
- Carry out audit work on overtime and absence and provide findings to stakeholders
- Contribute to payroll communications with HR teams, stakeholders, and staff
- Provide guidance on complex payroll queries and escalate issues when required
- Produce payroll data and insights to support business reporting and decision making
- Maintain HR and payroll data within Oracle Fusion in line with GDPR requirements
- Produce and distribute monthly payslips for GFSL colleagues
- Log payroll overpayments, calculate repayment amounts, and agree recovery plans with employees

Future plans
GFSL has been notified by its shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
