Location: Leeds
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Contract: Fixed-term until the end of 2026

Overview

Our client is an international insurance business seeking a Payroll Advisor to provide payroll support across UK and international operations. The role will support the accurate and timely delivery of monthly payroll through an outsourced provider, while also contributing to employee benefits administration, payroll reporting, reconciliations, process improvement, and wider business projects.

The successful candidate will act as a key point of contact for employees, work closely with People teams and payroll providers, and apply payroll expertise to improve efficiency, accuracy, and employee experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of monthly outsourced payrolls for the UK and Dubai.
  • Ensure payroll activity is accurate, timely, and compliant with statutory legislation and internal audit requirements.
  • Assist with the administration of employee benefits, including salary sacrifice arrangements and pensions.
  • Work with People teams to identify and implement payroll process improvements.
  • Provide clear and accurate payroll guidance to employees.
  • Advise on PAYE, statutory requirements, compensation and benefits, pensions, and payroll policies.
  • Contribute payroll expertise to HR and wider business projects.
  • Support month-end and year-end payroll activities.
  • Prepare payroll reporting, reconciliations, and financial data.
  • Manage third-party payroll deductions.
  • Maintain up-to-date payroll knowledge through ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Work with international People teams to improve processes, strengthen efficiency, and reduce risk.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting UK payroll processes within an outsourced model.
  • Experience supporting UK payroll processes within an in-house model.
  • Knowledge of statutory payroll requirements.
  • Experience with month-end and year-end payroll activities.
  • Experience with payroll data validation, benefits, and third-party deductions.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to provide clear and accurate payroll guidance.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with payroll providers and internal stakeholders, including HR, Reward, and managers.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines and service levels.
  • Proactive approach to process improvement.
  • Experience using payroll and HR systems such as ADP and Workday.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to analyse, reconcile, and interpret payroll data.
  • Interest in using technology and AI to improve ways of working.
