We are looking for a Payroll and Pensions Officer to join our growing function and play a key role in delivering a high-quality payroll and pensions service.

You will be responsible for helping ensure payroll and pension processes are delivered accurately, efficiently and on time, while providing trusted advice and support to colleagues across the organisation.

Closing date: 27th September 2026 (11.59pm)
Interview dates: TBC
Salary: £29,112 - £35,061 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus benefits
Location: Canary Wharf, London (Hybrid working)
Hours: 35 hours per week, from 9.00 to 5.00, Monday to Friday

The Role

This is a newly created role offering exposure to all aspects of payroll and pensions administration. Working closely with our outsourced payroll provider, MHR, you'll support two payrolls serving approximately 700 employees and associates. You'll build relationships with colleagues across the organisation, broaden your expertise and play an important role in shaping and improving our payroll and pensions service.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have solid end-to-end UK payroll experience, together with a working knowledge of pension administration, including tax, National Insurance, statutory payments, automatic enrolment and pension opt-in and opt-out processes.

  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail, with the ability to process payroll information accurately, investigate anomalies, check calculations, identify discrepancies and resolve issues before sign-off.

  • Possess strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively, working to monthly payroll deadlines across two payrolls while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

  • Have a professional, customer-focused approach, with confidence to explain payroll and pension matters clearly to colleagues at all levels, while handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion and integrity.

  • Have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across the organisation, play a visible role in delivering a service that has a direct impact on employees' experience, and develop expertise across all aspects of payroll and pensions administration.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
