About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Payroll Assistant to join our team based at our London office in Farringdon. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of employee payroll, maintaining compliance with UK legislation, and supporting continuous improvements within our payroll functions. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and highly organized, with a passion for delivering reliable payroll services. You will work closely with HR, Finance, and external providers to ensure that all payroll activities are executed efficiently and accurately, contributing to a positive employee experience and operational excellence.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 2-3 years' experience in payroll administration or a similar role, demonstrating a strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, processes, and procedures. Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel is essential, along with excellent numerical and analytical skills. The candidate should have a proven track record of processing payroll accurately under strict deadlines and maintaining confidentiality. Strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and a customer-focused attitude are vital, along with the capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. A professional approach and attention to detail are critical attributes for this role.

Responsibilities
- Process monthly payroll accurately and within agreed deadlines, ensuring all employee data is correctly captured and processed.
- Manage end-to-end payroll activities, including onboarding new employees, processing leavers, salary adjustments, and handling various types of pay such as pensions, maternity, paternity, and sick pay.
- Maintain and update payroll records, ensuring alignment with SAP and other relevant systems for data integrity and compliance.
- Collaborate closely with HR teams and external providers to facilitate seamless payroll operations and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.
- Conduct detailed payroll checks, reconciliations, and audits to ensure accuracy, compliance, and data security.
- Administer the company's Private Medical Insurance scheme through payroll and process monthly pension contributions, performing reconciliations regularly.
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management in a professional, timely, and customer-focused manner.
- Ensure payroll documentation and records are maintained securely, confidentially, and in accordance with data protection regulations.
- Keep payroll processes and procedures up to date, documenting changes and improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Stay informed about changes in UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, and internal policies to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Support initiatives to improve payroll systems and processes, contributing to system upgrades and automation efforts.
- Build and sustain effective working relationships across departments and with external payroll providers to facilitate smooth operations.
