Owen Reed is looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to join a leading law firm on a six-month fixed-term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to support the payroll team with the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll.
The Role
As Payroll Assistant, you will provide day-to-day administrative support to the payroll team, helping to ensure that payroll information is accurate, complete, and processed within the required deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll data.
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records and update information as required.
- Check timesheets, overtime payments, and absence records for accuracy.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies before payroll deadlines.
- Respond to payroll-related queries from employees and managers in a professional and timely manner.
- Support payroll reconciliations, reporting, and general administrative activities.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure payroll documentation is filed appropriately.
- Handle confidential employee and payroll information with discretion.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal procedures, and relevant payroll legislation.
- Provide additional support to the payroll team as required.

About You
We are looking for an organized and reliable payroll professional who takes pride in producing accurate work and delivering a responsive service.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Payroll Assistant or payroll administration role.
- Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and payroll systems.
- The ability to check payroll information accurately and identify discrepancies.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet payroll deadlines.
- A professional and service-focused approach when responding to queries.
- The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- A proactive, flexible, and collaborative working style.

The Essentials
- Six-month fixed-term contract.
