Location: Northwich, UK office based

Salary: Competitive

Contract Type: Part-time, Permanent (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)

Reporting To: Payroll & HR Manager

Role Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Assistant to join our busy team. You will help process accurate, end-to-end monthly and weekly payrolls for over 330 employees, ensure strict compliance with statutory regulations, and act as the first point of contact for employee pay queries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Entry: Enter and update employee data, timesheets, and other information into the payroll system.
  • Payroll Processing: Calculate gross pay, overtime, deductions (such as tax, National Insurance, and pensions), and process statutory payments.
  • Employee Records: Process new starters, leavers, and changes to employee records, maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Queries: Respond to employees' payroll and benefits-related questions and provide information to relevant third parties.
  • Reconciliation & Reporting: Reconcile payroll information, prepare payroll journals, and create reports.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with employment laws and HMRC regulations by processing Real-Time Information (RTI) submissions.
  • Year-End Processing: Assist with end-of-year procedures, such as processing and issuing P60s, collating benefits data, including company vehicles and healthcare, to include the calculation of and production of P11Ds

What We Are Looking For

  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy is critical for correct calculations and data entry.
  • Organisation: The ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet strict deadlines is essential.
  • Discretion and Confidentiality: Handling sensitive employee information requires discretion and a high level of confidentiality.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in payroll software, and Microsoft Excel
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills are needed to communicate effectively with employees and other departments.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to identify and resolve errors or discrepancies in payroll data.
