What You’ll be doing:
As a Payroll Team Leader, you’ll support the lead to ensuring our weekly-paid colleagues are paid accurately, on time and in line with their terms and conditions of employment. Managing payroll for a designated Division, you’ll play a key role in maintaining compliance, delivering accurate reporting and supporting the wider business with payroll expertise.
To manage, direct, control and produce the weekly payroll for all colleagues within the weekly population, for a given Division, in accordance with the individual’s terms and conditions of employment and relevant legislation and rules.

You will:

Coordinate and manage the payroll function for the weekly population for a given Division ensuring correct payment in full and on time

Ensure all payroll documentation is processed correctly and payments are made in line with company policies, payment rules and HMRC requirements.

Provide accurate payroll and cost data to support site reporting and financial planning.

Maintain the security and confidentiality of colleague data, ensuring compliance with data protection legislation and internal policies.

Ensure all statutory payments, legislative requirements and internal reporting obligations are completed accurately and on time.

Act as a trusted source of payroll expertise, providing guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders across the business.

Support the delivery of payroll-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an experienced payroll professional with strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail and the ability to lead and support a team. You’ll be confident managing complex payroll processes, interpreting legislation and driving improvements to deliver an efficient and high-quality service.
- Strong, comprehensive knowledge of payroll systems and processes.
- Proven experience managing payroll operations.
- Demonstrated experience leading, motivating and developing a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Experience creating, reviewing and implementing payroll policies and procedures.
- A strong understanding of relevant payroll legislation and compliance requirements, with the ability to interpret and apply them effectively.
- Experience identifying opportunities to improve processes and drive greater efficiency.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a strong customer-focused approach.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to support and deliver payroll-related projects and initiatives.
