Role Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Associate to join our team on a full-time, onsite basis in Colombo. The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for clients based in the United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States, ensuring payroll is processed accurately, confidentially, and within statutory deadlines.

Key responsibilities include collecting and validating payroll data, calculating salaries, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, taxes, pension/superannuation contributions, and employee benefits. The Payroll Associate will maintain payroll records, prepare payroll reports, perform payroll reconciliations, and ensure compliance with relevant payroll legislation and company policies.

The role also involves responding to payroll-related queries, collaborating with HR, Finance, and external stakeholders, and identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll accurately for UK, Australian, and US clients.
  • Validate employee timesheets, attendance records, leave, overtime, and payroll input data.
  • Calculate salaries, statutory deductions, taxes, pensions/superannuation, and other employee benefits.
  • Ensure payroll is completed accurately and within client deadlines.
  • Maintain payroll records and employee payroll documentation.
  • Prepare payroll reports and reconcile payroll data with accounting records.
  • Respond to payroll-related queries from employees and clients professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant payroll legislation, tax regulations, and internal policies.
  • Support month-end payroll activities and audit requirements.
  • Identify and recommend payroll process improvements.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience processing UK, Australian, or US payroll.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing and payroll administration.
  • Understanding of statutory payroll requirements, including taxes and compliance regulations.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and payroll reconciliations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll software.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet strict deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience with payroll systems such as Xero Payroll, BrightPay, Sage Payroll, MYOB, KeyPay, Employment Hero Payroll, ADP, Gusto, Paychex, or similar platforms is advantageous.
  • A qualification in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Previous experience in payroll, finance, or accounting is highly desirable.
