What You'll Be Doing
The Payroll & Sales Ledger Associate plays a key role in supporting the efficient delivery of both payroll and accounts receivable activities across the business. This role is split approximately 50/50 between Payroll and Sales Ledger responsibilities, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions while managing customer billing, cash collections, cash allocation, reconciliations, dispute management, and wider accounts receivable activities.
Working closely with the Payroll Team Leader and OTC Team Leader/Manager, you will follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure high standards of accuracy, compliance, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
- Assist with the preparation and processing of weekly payrolls across multiple sites.
- Validate payroll data, including hours worked, overtime, absences, employee changes, and deductions.
- Process new starters, leavers, transfers, and amendments to employee records.
- Calculate and process statutory payments, including SSP, maternity pay, and other payroll-related payments.
- Ensure payroll processing is completed accurately and within agreed timelines whilst adhering to payroll legislation, company policies, and internal procedures.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Respond to employee payroll queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Provide guidance on payslips, deductions, tax codes, statutory payments, and payroll processes.
Sales Ledger
- Process customer billing activities accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Manage cash collection activities while maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Perform cash application and allocation of customer receipts.
- Conduct customer account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Manage credit control activities and monitor outstanding debt.
- Process and investigate debit notes and customer deductions.
- Complete banking transactions and reconciliations.
- Resolve customer disputes and queries efficiently to minimise aged debt.
- Maintain accurate customer account records within the ERP system.
- Support month-end reporting and finance activities.

What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in Payroll & Sales Ledger
- Experience processing payroll transactions and payroll administration activities.
- Experience using ERP and payroll systems & strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across departments.
