Description

The Payroll & Benefits Assistant plays a key role in supporting the accurate and timely delivery of payroll and benefits across Etihad Campus. Working closely with the Payroll & Benefits Manager and the wider People Team, the role supports payroll processing, employee queries, benefits administration and continuous improvement.

This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage confidential information while delivering a reliable and customer-focused payroll service to permanent and casual colleagues across a fast-paced, event-driven environment.

Day To Day Key Responsibilities

Payroll Processing & Administration

  • Support the accurate and timely processing of monthly and fortnightly payroll for permanent employees and casual workers.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, ensuring all employee data, changes and adjustments are processed correctly.
  • Support payroll reconciliations and investigate discrepancies where required.
  • Assist with the administration of holiday pay, statutory payments, deductions and other payroll-related calculations.
  • Work closely with Finance and People team to ensure payroll information is accurate and aligned with business requirements.

Employee Support & Query Management

  • Act as a key point of contact for employee payroll and benefits queries, providing timely and accurate support.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll-related issues, escalating where appropriate.
  • Provide clear explanations of pay-related matters and support a positive colleague experience.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive employee information.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Support compliance with HMRC requirements, payroll legislation and internal policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support payroll audits when required.
  • Ensure payroll processes are completed in line with agreed deadlines and controls.
  • Support the preparation of payroll reports and data analysis where required.

Benefits & Reward Support

  • Support the administration of employee benefits, including enrolment, changes and employee communications.
  • Assist with cyclical reward activities and People initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate benefits records and support continuous improvement of reward processes.

Process Improvement & Collaboration

  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll and benefits processes, systems and ways of working.
  • Support improvements to payroll documentation, procedures and employee guidance.
  • Build strong working relationships across People, Finance and operational teams.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Technical & Professional

  • Previous experience working within payroll
  • Experience supporting payroll processing within a high-volume or multi-contract environment.
  • Good understanding of PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and statutory deductions.
  • Experience using payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workloads effectively.
  • Experience working with confidential employee information.
