Payroll Benefits Specialist (12 month FTC)

(£55,000 - £65,000 plus benefits)

We are partnering with a global Financial Services business to recruit a Payroll & Benefits Specialist for a 12 month fixed term contract.

This is a broad, hands-on role with particular responsibility for payroll and benefits, offering the opportunity to take ownership of key processes, work closely with external providers and help improve the way payroll and benefits are managed and delivered.

You will take responsibility for overseeing the monthly payroll process for the London office, ensuring deadlines are met and payroll information and reporting are accurate. This is not simply a payroll processing position. A key part of the role will be reviewing and checking payroll outputs, dealing with more complex queries and working closely with the external payroll provider to improve processes, controls and overall accuracy. You will also support global payroll activity where required and oversee pension administration.

Alongside payroll, you will have broad responsibility for the administration and management of employee benefits. This will include overseeing employee enrolments, changes and leavers across benefit schemes, responding to employee queries and managing annual benefits renewals. You will work closely with brokers and external providers, reviewing market developments and identifying opportunities to improve the benefits offering and achieve greater value.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

There is also an element of reward and compensation within the position. You will support salary benchmarking and market analysis, the annual remuneration cycle and year-end reward processes, as well as producing compensation information and reporting for senior stakeholders. This forms part of the role, although the principal focus of the position is payroll and benefits.

We are looking for someone with strong practical payroll experience and a thorough understanding of UK payroll legislation and pensions. You should be comfortable overseeing an end-to-end payroll process and have the knowledge and confidence to review outputs, identify issues and work constructively with an outsourced provider to improve processes.

You will also need good experience of administering employee benefits programmes, ideally including responsibility for annual renewals and working with brokers or providers.

Previous experience within Financial Services is required for this position, together with an understanding of the regulatory environment and SM&CR. Strong analytical and reporting skills, advanced Excel and excellent attention to detail will also be important. Experience of IRIS payroll would be useful but is not essential.

This role would particularly suit someone who enjoys being close to the detail and taking ownership. You will be joining a small, collaborative HR team, so you should be comfortable working autonomously, managing competing priorities and building strong relationships with colleagues, senior stakeholders and external providers.

If you have a strong background in payroll and benefits and are looking for a broad role where you can improve processes as well as manage the day-to-day delivery, we would be delighted to hear from you.
