About The Role

We are working with one of our well-established Accountancy Practice clients who are looking to recruit an experienced Payroll Clerk to join their busy Payroll Bureau team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys managing multiple client payrolls. As a Payroll Clerk, you will be responsible for processing end-to-end payrolls for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of payroll services. You will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of customer service and supporting the payroll bureau’s operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in payroll processing, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working within an Accountancy Practice or Payroll Bureau environment, with a minimum of 2-3 years managing multiple payrolls.
  • A strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processing, current payroll legislation, and statutory requirements.
  • Experience with RTI submissions, pension administration, and payroll reconciliations.
  • Professional qualifications such as CIPP, AAT, or payroll-specific certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in payroll software such as BrightPay, Sage 50 Payroll, Xero Payroll, Moneysoft, Iris Payroll, Staffology, or QuickBooks Payroll.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize workloads effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Processing end-to-end weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Managing multiple client payrolls simultaneously while meeting all payroll deadlines.
  • Handling payroll administration tasks such as processing starters, leavers, P45s, and P60s.
  • Completing Real Time Information (RTI) submissions to HMRC accurately and on schedule.
  • Administering auto-enrolment pensions, including uploads to providers such as NEST, People's Pension, and Aviva.
  • Calculating statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP, holiday pay, and student loans.
  • Processing attachment of earnings orders, court orders, and CIS deductions where applicable.
  • Performing payroll reconciliations and year-end payroll procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Resolving payroll queries by liaising directly with clients and HMRC to provide prompt solutions.
  • Maintaining accurate payroll records while ensuring GDPR compliance and confidentiality.
  • Utilizing payroll software to process payrolls efficiently and accurately.
