About The Role
On behalf of our client, a highly regarded accountancy practice, Arc Recruitment is seeking an experienced Payroll Clerk to join their friendly and professional team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with a minimum of three years' experience to develop their career within a supportive environment. The successful candidate will manage a varied portfolio of client payrolls, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. You will be instrumental in providing an exceptional level of customer service, supporting clients with payroll-related queries, and maintaining meticulous records in accordance with legislation and GDPR requirements.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of three years' payroll experience, preferably within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau setting.
- A comprehensive understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC processes.
- Proficiency in payroll software such as BrightPay, Sage Payroll, IRIS, or Moneysoft.
- Knowledge of Real Time Information (RTI) submissions and Auto Enrolment pension duties.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client payrolls efficiently and prioritize workload effectively.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Desirable qualifications include a CIPP qualification or progress towards one, experience with CIS payrolls and director payrolls, and knowledge of pension administration.
Responsibilities
The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for a range of duties, including but not limited to:
- Processing weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls for a diverse portfolio of clients.
- Handling starters, leavers, salary adjustments, overtime, bonuses, and statutory payments.
- Calculating and processing statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, SPP, and SAP.
- Submitting RTI returns to HMRC accurately and on time.
- Managing Auto Enrolment pension duties and pension submissions.
- Producing payslips, payroll reports, and year-end documentation.
- Responding promptly and professionally to payroll queries from clients.
- Ensuring payrolls are completed accurately within strict deadlines.
- Maintaining payroll records in compliance with GDPR and current legislation.
- Staying updated with changes in payroll legislation and HMRC guidance to ensure compliance.
