About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Clerk to join our client’s dynamic team in the West Midlands, specifically within the Birmingham area. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to manage high-volume payroll processing in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely payroll services, ensuring compliance with current legislation, and maintaining comprehensive employee payroll records. The Payroll Clerk will play a vital role in supporting HR and finance teams by managing end-to-end payroll operations, handling employee queries, and assisting with payroll reporting and reconciliations. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with excellent organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving, ensuring all payroll processes are executed efficiently and accurately.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing within a high-volume environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly.
  • Background in managing payroll changes such as starters, leavers, and salary adjustments is preferred.
  • Candidates who are immediately available or can start at short notice will be prioritized.
  • Relevant professional certifications or payroll qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately process payroll for a large number of employees within designated timeframes, ensuring all calculations are correct and compliant with legislation.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Handle all payroll changes, including new starters, leavers, salary adjustments, and benefits administration.
  • Respond promptly to employee payroll queries, providing clear and accurate resolutions to ensure employee satisfaction.
  • Assist with payroll reporting, including statutory reports, reconciliation of payroll data, and audit preparations.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies efficiently, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless payroll operations and compliance with company policies.
  • Stay informed of changes in payroll legislation and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and process improvements.
