About The Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated Payroll Clerk to join our client’s team in the West Midlands, specifically in the Birmingham area. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced payroll professionals who thrive in fast-paced environments and possess a strong background in high-volume payroll processing. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing in accordance with legal requirements and company policies. This position requires attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. The Payroll Clerk will work closely with HR and finance departments to maintain payroll accuracy and resolve any discrepancies promptly. This role is ideal for individuals who are proactive, organized, and committed to delivering high-quality payroll services.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in payroll processing within a high-volume environment.
- Proficiency with ERP systems.
- Up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance standards.
- Strong communication skills for liaising effectively with employees and internal teams.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and capacity to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Relevant qualifications such as a payroll certification or related financial administration qualifications are advantageous.
- Availability at short notice is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Accurately process payroll for a large number of employees within designated timeframes, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records meticulously, including personal details, salary changes, and statutory deductions.
- Manage all payroll changes such as new starters, leavers, and amendments to employee details, ensuring data integrity.
- Respond promptly to payroll-related queries from employees, providing clear and accurate information to resolve issues efficiently.
- Assist with payroll reporting, including generating reports for management, audits, and reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies swiftly, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure all payroll activities align with organizational policies and legal requirements.
- Stay informed of changes in payroll legislation and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and process improvement.
