About The Role
We are currently recruiting for an Accounts Payroll Clerk to join our client, a leading oil and gas operator, as part of their busy Finance team in Norwich. This role offers a unique opportunity for individuals with previous Accounts Payable experience to become an integral part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will primarily support the Accounts Payable function, ensuring that supplier invoices are processed accurately and efficiently while collaborating closely with internal teams such as Finance, Procurement, and other departments. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with financial data, managing multiple priorities, and building strong relationships with suppliers and colleagues alike.

The ideal candidate will possess previous experience within Accounts Payable or a similar finance role. A good understanding of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is essential, along with experience using SAP or a comparable finance system—training can be provided if necessary. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are critical for success in this role. Candidates should have a good understanding of cost centres and financial coding, along with the ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and collaborate within a team. Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment are also important qualities for this position.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
