Interim People Payroll Officer Salary: £130 - £150 per day via Umbrella Location: West London – easily accessible from Hammersmith Duration: Immediate start to January 2027 Working Pattern: Hybrid - 2 days per week on site

About the Role We are currently working with an established organisation within the education sector to recruit an experienced People Payroll Officer on an interim basis.

We are looking for a People Payroll Officer to join a busy People team, taking responsibility for hands-on payroll activity while also supporting across wider HR during quieter payroll periods.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced education payroll professional with iTrent experience who is looking to broaden their HR knowledge and develop into a wider People role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer the educational payroll using iTrent, ensuring accurate and timely pay runs.
  • Support the team with upcoming parallel payroll runs.
  • Manage day-to-day payroll administration, including checking and resolving queries.
  • Ensure payroll information is accurate and processed within required deadlines.
  • Support employees and stakeholders with payroll-related queries.
  • During quieter payroll periods, provide support across wider HR and People activities.
  • Assist with general HR administration and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Work closely with the wider People team to ensure a smooth and effective service.

About You The key requirement for this role is hands-on experience administering educational payroll using iTrent.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working with educational payroll.
  • Strong, hands-on iTrent experience - this is essential.
  • Experience managing payroll processes and pay runs from start to finish.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organisational and administration skills.
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines, particularly during busy payroll periods.
  • An interest in developing broader HR/People experience.
