Payroll Data Integrity & Support Specialist

Starting salary £25,758, plus annual bonus potential £1,200 (paid quarterly) 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, and a company pension scheme with highly competitive employer contribution rates

Contract: Full time, fixed-term 12 months

Location: Royal Mail, Pond Street, Sheffield S98 6HR - hybrid working with 4 days in the office and 1 day working remotely.

At Royal Mail, we’re proud to deliver essential services to communities across the UK. Behind this is a dedicated team ensuring our people are paid accurately and on time. We’re now looking for a Payroll Data Integrity & Support Specialist to join our Pay Services team in Sheffield.

About The Role

You’ll be part of a team of over 100 colleagues responsible for maintaining accurate employee and pay data across our payroll systems. Working within the Data Integrity and Template Management team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring organisational structures, positions, and payroll data are accurate, compliant and up to date.

You’ll also support payroll activity, manage exceptions and queries, and work closely with key stakeholders including line managers and Workforce Planning, helping us deliver excellent customer service every day.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Maintaining and managing template records to ensure organisational data is accurate and up to date
  • Processing and updating payroll data including pay, overtime, absences, bonuses and deductions
  • Supporting weekly and monthly payroll runs, including managing exceptions and rejections
  • Applying effective checks and controls to ensure payroll accuracy and reduce risk
  • Supporting business-wide changes such as pay awards and restructures
  • Working collaboratively with Workforce Planning and other stakeholders to ensure data integrity
  • Responding to queries and providing a high standard of customer service
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and enhance efficiency
  • Contributing to team discussions and taking an active role in your own development

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a detail-focused and proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience working within payroll administration
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret and work with data
  • Experience using systems such as PSP (including MI reporting) or similar
  • Good knowledge of Excel and data manipulation
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to resolve queries
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • A collaborative approach, with a focus on delivering great customer service
  • An understanding of payroll processes and business structures (desirable)
