Location: Telford

A GBP 37,000 - A GBP 47,550 (depending on experience)

Permanent Full Time 39.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

A well-established manufacturing business in Telford is looking to recruit an experienced Payroll HR Officer to join its Human Resources team. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with HR administration experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and making a real impact across the employee lifecycle.

The Role

Reporting to the HR Manager, you will take ownership of the end-to-end payroll process while supporting a broad range of HR administration activities. You'll ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, maintain HR records, support onboarding activities, and help ensure compliance with employment and payroll legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll, including starters, leavers and contractual changes
  • Manage overtime, bonuses, deductions and timesheet data
  • Administer statutory payments and pension auto-enrolment
  • Submit RTI information to HMRC and manage payroll deductions
  • Produce payroll reports, reconciliations, P60s and support P11D reporting
  • Maintain employee records and HR system data
  • Prepare contracts, offer letters and HR correspondence
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and right-to-work checks
  • Monitor absence and holiday records and produce management reports
  • Support employee relations administration and benefits processes
  • Ensure payroll and HR activities comply with current legislation and GDPR requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience running end-to-end UK payroll
  • Strong knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and statutory payments
  • Experience submitting RTI returns to HMRC
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using payroll systems

Desirable

  • Experience within manufacturing, food production or another shift-based environment
  • Previous experience in a combined Payroll and HR role
  • CIPP qualification and/or CIPD Level 3 (or working towards)
  • Knowledge of employment law and HR processes
  • Experience producing reports and analysing data
