About The Role

As a Payroll Manager based in Preston, you will play a pivotal role in managing the end-to-end payroll processes for a well-established retail business. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all payroll activities are executed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with current legislation. You will oversee payroll systems, resolve employee and stakeholder queries, and collaborate closely with the finance team to deliver accurate financial reporting. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong knowledge of payroll legislation and systems, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Your efforts will directly contribute to maintaining smooth operational workflows and ensuring employee satisfaction through timely and accurate payments.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position should possess a combination of relevant experience and skills, including:

  • Proven experience in payroll management, preferably within the retail sector or similar fast-paced industries.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and systems, with a strong understanding of payroll processing tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of payroll legislation, tax regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve payroll-related issues efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with employees, management, and external authorities.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines consistently.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Payroll Manager include:

  • Managing the complete payroll cycle, from data collection to payment processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Addressing and resolving payroll queries from employees and internal stakeholders promptly and professionally.
  • Maintaining and updating payroll systems to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Preparing and submitting payroll reports to relevant authorities, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Collaborating with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and reconciliation.
  • Monitoring legislative changes related to payroll and implementing necessary updates to policies and procedures.
  • Providing guidance and support to team members on payroll procedures and best practices.
  • Managing payroll audits, ensuring proper documentation, and maintaining audit readiness.
