Blair West are supporting Cintra HR & Payroll Services to find a Payroll Manager
This is a senior role responsible for leading and supporting the management of a team of payroll administrators, delivering accurate processing of payrolls to schedule and providing a consistent, customer-focused service to clients. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organisational skills and a genuine passion for putting the client first.
The opportunity
- Educate, mentor and train your team members.
- Manage team workload and payroll allocation, ensuring the smooth running of the team.
- Ensure adoption of new tools and support the introduction of processes to improve efficiency.
- Instil team spirit and ensure workload is managed by the whole team.
- Report the business dynamics of your team, including team cost, team revenues and team cost of production per payslip.
- Drive profitability and increase incremental revenue.
- Ensure controls of payroll processes are regularly reviewed and up to date, including day to day management of the operational database.
- Monitor daily operations and preparation reports as required, including agreed KPIs, resource utilisation and additional revenue.
- Liaise with clients, holding meetings as necessary and building rapport.
- Increase and maintain customer satisfaction, targeting an NPS of 30+.
- Work with Migration and Implementation, defining the customer journey and handover agreement.
- Ensure departmental compliance with statutory and pension scheme requirements.
- Conduct performance appraisals, creating development plans for each team member and regular reviews against objectives.

You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you have
- Experience in training, managing and mentoring colleagues.
- Over 5 years’ payroll experience.
- Previous management experience in a payroll bureau environment is desirable but not essential.
- Aptitude to learn a new payroll system and adapt to new tools.
- Excellent understanding of HMRC legislation and statutory payments.
- Excellent knowledge of pension and AE rules.
- Advanced knowledge of payroll systems and court orders.
- A highly resilient mindset and able to remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
