JOB TITLE: Payroll Manager
Reports To: Compensation & Benefits Manager
Location: Livingston, Scotland. Hybrid 2/3 days in office per week.
schuh are looking for a Payroll Manager to work in our Livingston HQ to oversee and manage end to end payroll processing for all employees within UK, CHI & ROI (4000+). The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the development and training of the payroll team and payroll polices/processes.
About the Role:
Payroll
- Responsible and accountable for the overall processing of 3 separate end-to-end payrolls within UK, Channel Islands and Republic of Ireland. Ensuring the team are fully utilising our payroll checklists, payroll training guides and company policies to ensure we pay our employees accurately and on time.
- Responsible for PSA and P11D/Payrolling of Benefits across UK.
- Responsible for Gender Pay Calculations across UK and ROI.
- Ensure a strict adherence to all payroll related regulations, tax laws and company policies.
- Stay up to date with evolving legislation and statutory changes.
- Review and resolve any issues, disputes, and discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
System
- Management responsibility the payroll module and delivery.
- Ensure the system supports payroll operations, payroll data and payroll reporting needs of the business.
- Collaborate with third party vendors to continue to review and build working relationships to so support functionality and payroll delivery.
- Continuously monitor and maintain payroll processes and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy within the team.

Reward & Benefits
- Ensure compliance with UK, ROI and CI employment legislation, including National Minimum Wage, Equal Pay, Gender Pay Gap reporting, and Working Time Regulations.
- Oversee the management of external benefit providers to deliver timely and accurate programmes.
- Manage and administer employee benefits ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Work with the Compensation & Benefits Manager to review benefits and reward initiatives and support engagement with the current offering.
Team
- Support team progress and provide feedback for professional growth.
- Actively identify areas for improvement within the team and encourage learning and development opportunities.
- Lead Payroll Team PDR’s and report into Compensation & Benefits Manager.
- Support, guide and lead by example within company vision and values in mind.
- Feedback to Compensation Manager on overall delivery of payroll, structure and workload balance.
About You:
- Deep understanding of payroll industry knowledge – minimum of 2 years in Payroll management.
- Dayforce HRIS experience desirable.
- CIPP accreditation is desirable.
- ROI and CHI Payroll knowledge desirable.
- Previous PSA/Payrolling Benefits/Gender Pay skills.
- Strong listening and communication skills.
- Strong Excel, vlookup/pivot skills.
- Problem solving in order to think creatively and find solutions within Payroll environment.
- Time management and organisational skills.
- Empathy and people skills to build strong working relationships.
- Financial management and intermediate knowledge of Payroll legislation relevant to role.
- Collaboration and teamworking.
- Leadership, coaching and people development capabilities.
