About The Role

As a Payroll Manager based in Preston, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and compliant processing of payroll operations within a well-established retail business. Your responsibilities will include managing end-to-end payroll processes, addressing employee and stakeholder queries, and maintaining the integrity of payroll data. This role demands a detail-oriented professional with strong knowledge of payroll legislation and systems, capable of working independently to meet deadlines and uphold high standards of accuracy. You will collaborate closely with the finance team and other relevant departments to ensure payroll activities align with financial reporting and regulatory requirements. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proven experience in payroll management, preferably within the retail sector or similar industries.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and systems, with the ability to adapt to new technologies.
  • A comprehensive understanding of payroll legislation and compliance standards.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with employees, management, and external authorities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Relevant certifications or qualifications in payroll or finance are advantageous but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Payroll Manager include:

  • Managing the complete payroll cycle, ensuring timely and accurate salary processing for all employees.
  • Ensuring compliance with current payroll legislation and implementing necessary updates to payroll procedures.
  • Addressing and resolving payroll-related inquiries from employees and internal stakeholders promptly and professionally.
  • Maintaining and updating payroll systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Preparing and submitting statutory payroll reports to relevant authorities in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Collaborating with the finance team to ensure payroll costs are accurately reflected in financial statements and reports.
  • Monitoring changes in legislation and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and efficiency.
  • Conducting payroll audits and maintaining comprehensive documentation for audit purposes.
  • Providing guidance and support to team members and other departments regarding payroll processes and policies.
