About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to join our Accounts Team at Lady Margaret Hall. This pivotal role involves taking full responsibility for the accurate processing of payroll each month, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. The Payroll Manager will oversee all aspects of payroll administration, including calculations, filings with HMRC, pension contributions, and liaising with external agencies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of payroll systems, accounting principles, and confidentiality protocols. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a professional with a proactive approach, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines. The role is based at our beautiful campus and offers a flexible work schedule, with part-time applications also considered.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have proven experience in payroll management, ideally within a complex organizational setting. A strong understanding of payroll legislation, HMRC regulations, and pension schemes is essential. A background in accounting or finance is preferred, along with proficiency in payroll software and MS Office applications. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion are critical. Relevant professional certifications or training in payroll or finance will be considered an advantage. The candidate should demonstrate a proactive attitude, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end payroll process for all staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness each month.
- Calculate wages, deductions, and benefits in accordance with employment contracts and legislation.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements, including submissions of Real Time Information (RTI) reports and other filings.
- Administer pension contributions and liaise with pension providers to ensure correct processing.
- Maintain and update payroll records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Respond to employee queries regarding payroll, benefits, and tax-related matters promptly and professionally.
- Prepare reports and summaries for management review, highlighting payroll costs and trends.
- Assist with audits and ensure payroll processes adhere to internal controls and external regulations.
- Stay informed about changes in payroll legislation and implement necessary adjustments to procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments, including HR and finance, to ensure seamless payroll operations.
