Payroll Manager

We are looking for a Payroll Manager to join Team OB in our Support Office.

As Payroll Manager at OB, you will lead the end-to-end payroll process for both hourly-paid and salaried team members, working closely with our payroll bureau to ensure each monthly payroll is completed accurately and on time. You will act as the business expert for payroll and HR systems, providing advice and support to users and producing reports that inform business decisions.

You will manage the Payroll Administrator, providing clear direction, support, and development while ensuring that pay-related processes and queries are handled accurately and efficiently.

Our Support Office

Our Support Office is based in Tolworth, near Chessington, only a 30-minute journey from London Waterloo. We offer hybrid working with a split of 3 days in the office and 2 days home working per week, and are open to having conversations about working flexibly.

A bit about us …

At Oliver Bonas (OB), our values of Work Hard, Play Hard & Be Kind are integral to everything we do. Collaboration, imagination, curiosity, and teamwork are key to our success, and everyone has their part to play in making OB a special place to work.

Having fun is key, and a playful and positive approach creates an optimistic environment. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we are serious about what we do.

Our team knows their stuff. They’re confident and creative and unafraid to challenge convention to find solutions, taking accountability for their actions, but always with kindness and humility.

More about the role …

  • Manage monthly pension adjustments and ensure team members are set up under the correct pension scheme
  • Check sickness, maternity, and paternity calculations and payments for all business areas
  • Coordinate with the payroll bureau to produce payroll reports, resolve issues, meet agreed deadlines, and maintain payroll accuracy
  • Create and agree with the bureau/People/Finance teams the payroll calendar for the year ahead
  • Oversee all leaver payments and holiday calculations
  • Support the development of the Payroll Administrator to respond accurately and promptly to payroll queries, escalating complex matters where appropriate
  • Manage all queries relating to benefits
  • Manage processing of P11Ds and submissions of PSA
  • Educate line managers on timesheet processing, e.g. arrange payroll drop-in sessions
  • Manage the pension scheme, healthcare scheme, electric vehicle scheme, cycle to work scheme, and season ticket loan scheme, including annual renewal
  • Coordinate the annual pay review process, ensuring that approved changes are accurately recorded and implemented through payroll
  • Manage PRP and management bonus admin processes
  • Conduct regular system checks to ensure integrity of data
  • Partner with the wider People administration team to review processes, identify system improvements, and support their effective implementation
  • Provide strong leadership and be a great role model for your team
  • Contribute payroll expertise, insight, and recommendations to People management meetings and the development of the wider People strategy.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
