Payroll Officer

Plymouth, Devon
£30,000 - £35,000 per annum

Our client, a successful and growing organisation, is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their forward-thinking team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-focused payroll professional to take ownership of the end-to-end payroll process. As the Payroll Officer, you’ll be responsible for delivering a reliable and efficient payroll service, ensuring accurate payments, meeting compliance requirements, and providing timely support to employees and the wider business.

The role would suit someone who is organised, dependable, and confident working independently, with a strong eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

The responsibilities:

  • Take full ownership of the end-to-end payroll process across the organisation
  • Ensure all statutory submissions, payroll reporting, and compliance requirements are completed accurately and on time
  • Administer workplace pensions, auto-enrolment, and associated payroll deductions
  • Prepare payroll journals, reconciliations, and supporting financial information
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records while responding to payroll queries in a timely manner
  • Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes, systems, and controls

The candidate:

  • Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll processes.
  • CIPP qualified, candidates with relevant payroll experience will also be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of Sage 50 Payroll or similar software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel and payroll systems.
  • Professional, organised and able to work independently.
