About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our dynamic payroll team based in Stockport. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a national social care charity that operates multiple payrolls, managing over 5,000 staff on various terms and conditions. The successful candidate will play a vital role in processing weekly and monthly payrolls, ensuring accurate and timely payments to our dedicated staff. You will work closely with the payroll systems team to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy, utilizing your payroll expertise to support our organizational goals. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess prior experience in payroll processing, with a strong understanding of HMRC requirements, Auto-Enrolment legislation, and data protection policies. Proficiency in using payroll software, Excel, Word, and pension modules is essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellent data entry skills, accuracy, and efficiency, along with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly. A background in social care or similar sectors is advantageous but not essential. The candidate must be diligent, proactive, and able to work effectively within strict deadlines. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach are necessary to respond helpfully to staff queries and ensure a positive payroll experience for all employees.

Responsibilities

  • Processing paperwork related to starters, leavers, and employment changes accurately and promptly.
  • Processing weekly and monthly payrolls, verifying timesheets, and calculating gross pay.
  • Managing statutory payments, company payments, and third-party deductions.
  • Recording holidays in accordance with organizational terms and conditions and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Responding to staff inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Maintaining accurate records.
  • Supporting payroll system improvements.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure payroll processes align with organizational policies and legislative requirements.
