Support the wellbeing of our workforce by getting the details right and delivering on time.

As a Payroll Officer, you’ll play a key role in delivering a smooth and reliable payroll service. Whether it’s solving issues, checking the details or helping shape our new in-house system, your work will have a direct impact on colleagues across the Council.

Working Style

You’ll be based in the Borough for 3 days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you’re working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you’ll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents’ lives.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be part of a small, friendly team handling payroll for a wide and varied workforce. As the first point of contact for pay-related queries, you’ll support employees, managers and external partners, responding with clarity, empathy and professionalism.

  • You’ll process day-to-day payroll transactions, handle queries around pay and deductions, and run regular and ad-hoc payroll cycles.
  • You’ll also manage overpayments, claims and court orders, working carefully to make sure everything is accurate, up-to-date and in line with regulations.
  • We’ve recently brought our payroll in-house, so there’s also an exciting opportunity to shape how we work going forward. You’ll help test and refine our new Oracle payroll system and play a part in developing streamlined processes for the future.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
