About The Role

As a Payroll Officer at W Talent, you will be an integral part of an experienced payroll team, responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payrolls for a diverse client portfolio. Your role will involve managing end-to-end payroll processes, from data input to final calculations, and ensuring compliance with current legislation and statutory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a payroll-focused role, preferably within an accountancy practice or professional services environment.
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll processes, including PAYE and National Insurance contributions.
  • Good knowledge of statutory payroll requirements and relevant legislation.
  • Experience managing multiple payrolls or working with a diverse client portfolio is advantageous.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • High level of accuracy and ability to identify discrepancies effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple deadlines efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confidence in dealing directly with clients and addressing payroll-related queries.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using payroll software and accounting systems.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
  • Proactive, reliable, and committed to delivering high standards of work.
  • Professional and client-focused approach, with a commitment to confidentiality and data protection.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately process multiple client payrolls within specified deadlines.
  • Manage payroll from initial data entry through to finalization and submission.
  • Review payroll data and calculations, resolving any discrepancies promptly.
  • Calculate statutory payments, deductions, adjustments, and payrolled benefits.
  • Handle payroll amendments such as starters, leavers, salary changes, bonuses, and overtime.
  • Prepare and distribute payslips and other relevant payroll documentation.
  • Complete year-end payroll procedures, including P60s and P11Ds where applicable.
  • Submit RTI returns to HMRC accurately and within statutory deadlines.
  • Communicate with HMRC regarding PAYE, National Insurance, and other payroll-related matters.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to client payroll queries, providing clear advice.
  • Stay updated on changes to payroll legislation to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential payroll records in line with company policies and data protection laws.
  • Coordinate effectively with clients and internal teams to ensure timely receipt of payroll information.
  • Identify and resolve payroll issues, escalating complex cases as necessary.
  • Support the wider payroll team during busy periods and contribute to process improvements.
  • Uphold a high standard of client service at all times, fostering positive relationships.
