Job Title - Payroll Officer

Position: Permanent
Location: Stockport Office

The Company:

Learnd is one of the UK's fastest-growing Building Management Systems (BMS), Smart Buildings and Energy Services businesses. We help some of the UK's best-known organisations create smarter, more efficient buildings through innovative engineering, technology and exceptional customer service.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for an organised and detail-focused Payroll Officer to join our Finance team. This is a varied role that combines payroll, finance administration and employee support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership and working across multiple areas of the business.

The Position:

Working as part of the finance team, you'll take responsibility for coordinating our monthly payroll with our outsourced payroll provider (ADVO), ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.

Alongside payroll, you'll support the wider finance function by managing employee expenses, company credit cards, fleet invoice processing and providing day-to-day support for finance and payroll queries.

This is a key role requiring excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to build positive relationships across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll

  • Manage the monthly payroll process alongside our outsourced payroll provider (ADVO).
  • Prepare and validate payroll data, ensuring accuracy before submission.
  • Process payroll changes including starters, leavers, salary changes, bonuses and deductions.
  • Review and approve overtime submissions in line with company processes.
  • Respond to payroll queries from employees in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with HMRC and statutory requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
