Your new company

A well-established and growing education organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll & Pensions Officer to join its finance team on an ongoing interim basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a complex payroll environment, supporting multiple sites and ensuring the accurate delivery of payroll and pension services across a large employee population. The organisation offers a supportive environment, excellent benefits, and the opportunity to play a key role in maintaining payroll compliance and pension governance.

Your new role

As Payroll & Pensions Officer, you will act as the key point of contact between the organisation and its outsourced payroll provider, ensuring payroll information is processed accurately and on time. You will take ownership of payroll controls, pension administration, reconciliations, statutory compliance, and auto-enrolment responsibilities.

Key duties will include:

  • Liaising with an outsourced payroll provider and validating payroll data.
  • Processing payroll changes including starters, leavers, contractual amendments and payroll variations.
  • Producing payroll reports and carrying out comprehensive payroll checks.
  • Managing pension scheme administration across multiple occupational pension schemes.
  • Completing pension notifications, leaver forms and auto-enrolment activities.
  • Performing payroll and pension calculations, including maternity pay, adjustments and reconciliations.
  • Supporting month-end and year-end payroll and pension activities.
  • Providing guidance to managers and employees on payroll, pension and statutory matters.
  • Ensuring compliance with pension legislation, PAYE regulations and payroll best practice.
  • Developing and maintaining effective payroll and pension processes and controls.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
