Payroll & Pensions Officer
Location: London (Hybrid working available)
Salary: £29,000 - £35,000 per annum depending on experience
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll & Pensions Officer to join a busy and supportive people team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional looking to further develop their career within a fast-paced environment, supporting the delivery of accurate payroll and pension administration services.
Working closely with the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for assisting with the end-to-end payroll process while ensuring compliance with pension regulations and internal procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and processing of monthly payroll for employees.
- Input, maintain, and validate payroll data including starters, leavers, contractual changes, overtime, sickness, and other payroll transactions.
- Support payroll reconciliations and ensure accurate deductions for tax, National Insurance, pensions, and other statutory payments.
- Administer pension schemes, including enrolments, opt-ins, opt-outs, contributions, and pension reporting.
- Liaise with pension providers and respond to employee pension queries.
- Maintain accurate payroll and pension records in line with GDPR and company policies.
- Process salary changes, promotions, bonuses, and other payroll adjustments.
- Resolve payroll queries from employees in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, including P60s and statutory reporting requirements.
- Support audits and provide payroll and pension data as required.
- Produce payroll reports and assist with payroll-related administration tasks.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC, payroll legislation, and pension regulations.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience working within a payroll or payroll and pensions environment.
- Good understanding of payroll processes and pension administration.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to deal confidently with employees and stakeholders.
- Experience using payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to deal with payroll queries effectively.
- Knowledge of auto-enrolment legislation would be advantageous.
- A proactive and team-focused approach.
