About the role
We’re looking for a Payroll & Reward Administrator to join our People Team and help deliver an accurate, efficient and responsive payroll and reward service for colleagues across PDSA.
Working as part of our Payroll & Reward team, you’ll support the full payroll and reward cycle, ensuring payroll and associated processes are completed accurately, on time and in line with internal and statutory requirements.
You’ll play an important role in the accurate and timely delivery of our monthly payroll, which is approximately £5 million, giving you the opportunity to work across a varied range of payroll and reward activities.
Your role will include:
- Processing payroll changes, payments and deductions, including manual calculations where required
- Completing quality checks to support accurate and timely BACS submissions and payments
- Processing statutory and third-party deductions, including HMRC payments and court orders
- Completing monthly and year-end reporting, reconciliations and RTI submissions
- Supporting the recovery of overpayments and associated HMRC submissions
- Administering colleague benefits and maintaining accurate records and reporting
- Responding to payroll and reward queries from colleagues across PDSA
- Supporting audits and implementing agreed actions
- Helping maintain, test and improve our HR and payroll systems
- Keeping payroll and reward processes and documentation up to date
- Contributing to wider payroll and reward projects and continuous improvement

You’ll work with colleagues across PDSA as well as external partners including HMRC, pension administrators and other third-party providers.
About you
You’ll bring payroll and pension technical knowledge, including experience of manual calculations, alongside an understanding of benefits, statutory deadlines and relevant payroll legislation.
You’ll be comfortable analysing and interpreting financial information and understand the importance of accuracy, confidentiality and meeting fixed payroll deadlines.
You’ll also have:
- Good numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience using databases
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
- A helpful and professional approach when responding to colleague queries
Experience using Zellis (Northgate) ResourceLink would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.
Working pattern
This is a part-time role working 21 hours per week, with flexibility around how these hours are arranged.
The role requires you to work on Monday and Tuesday, which will be home-working days.
Ideally, your working pattern would also include either Wednesday or Thursday in the office, giving you the opportunity to work alongside and connect with the wider team.
