About The Role

The Payroll Specialist at MCS Group plays a crucial role within the finance and accounts team, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for the organization. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with a comprehensive understanding of UK payroll legislation and processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll cycle, administering employee benefits, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess relevant experience and qualifications that demonstrate their capability to perform the role effectively. Essential qualifications include proven experience in end-to-end UK payroll processing, with a solid understanding of payroll legislation and statutory payments. Experience administering a time and attendance system and managing employee benefits is also required. Candidates should have working knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, pension administration, and statutory payments. A background in payroll software systems and Excel is beneficial. While a professional certification such as the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) qualification is desirable, it is not mandatory. The candidate should demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Administer employee benefits, including pension contributions, healthcare, and other perks.
  • Handle employee lifecycle changes such as starters, leavers, contractual amendments, salary adjustments, overtime, and shift allowances.
  • Process statutory payments, deductions, and statutory sick and maternity/paternity payments in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Review, check, and verify payroll input data before submission to the payroll provider to prevent errors.
  • Maintain accurate records of payroll transactions and employee data.
  • Respond to employee queries related to payroll and benefits promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll legislation and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless payroll operations and reporting.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and efficiency.
