About The Role

We are seeking a meticulous and autonomous Payroll Specialist to join our client's team on a part-time basis. This role involves managing the entire payroll process for approximately 150 employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. As the payroll function transitions from HR back into Finance, this position offers a unique opportunity for a dedicated professional to take full ownership of payroll operations in a standalone capacity. The ideal candidate will work closely with both Finance and HR departments, providing expert support and ensuring seamless payroll delivery. The role is perfect for someone who enjoys detailed reconciliations, payroll accounting, and working in a dynamic SME environment where no two months are the same. The position offers flexible working hours, a competitive salary package, and the chance to contribute meaningfully to a growing organization.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a solid background in payroll management, with proven experience in processing end-to-end payroll cycles. Strong understanding of payroll accounting principles, including journal preparation and reconciliations, is essential. Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with payroll software—preferably ADP—will be highly advantageous. Candidates should have experience working with payroll-linked benefits such as pensions and healthcare, demonstrating attention to detail and analytical skills. Excellent communication abilities and the capacity to work independently are crucial for managing workload effectively and resolving payroll queries confidently. A proactive approach to continuous improvement and compliance with legislative requirements will also be valued.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
