Payroll Advisor
Location: Leeds
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Contract: 12-month fixed-term contract
Hours: Full-time
Overview
Our client, an international insurer, is seeking a Payroll Advisor to support the accurate and timely delivery of monthly payroll across the UK and Dubai through an outsourced provider.
This role combines hands-on payroll delivery with project work and continuous improvement. You will provide payroll guidance to employees, support statutory compliance, benefits and pensions administration, and work with international HR teams to improve processes, efficiency, and controls.
Responsibilities
- Support monthly outsourced payroll delivery for the UK and Dubai, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and statutory compliance.
- Assist with employee benefits administration, including salary sacrifice arrangements and pensions.
- Provide accurate guidance on PAYE, statutory requirements, compensation and benefits, pensions, and payroll policies.
- Support month-end and year-end activities, including reporting, reconciliations, financial data preparation, and third-party deductions.
- Work with HR teams to identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce risk.
- Contribute payroll expertise to HR and wider business projects.
- Maintain current payroll knowledge through ongoing learning and professional development.

Requirements
- Experience supporting UK payroll processes in both outsourced and in-house models.
- Knowledge of statutory payroll requirements, month-end and year-end processes, data validation, benefits, and third-party deductions.
- Strong customer focus and ability to provide clear, accurate payroll guidance.
- Experience building effective relationships with payroll providers, HR, Reward, managers, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, strict deadlines, and service levels within a structured monthly payroll cycle.
- Proactive approach to improving payroll processes, accuracy, and controls.
- Experience using payroll and HR systems such as ADP or Workday.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including analyzing, reconciling, and interpreting payroll data.
- Interest in using technology and AI to improve ways of working.
