About The Role

Portfolio Payroll is currently seeking a talented Payroll Specialist to join their team on a temporary basis with the potential for permanent employment. This role is based in Doncaster and offers a hybrid working pattern, combining office-based work with remote flexibility. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processes for a prominent UK consumer brand, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of payroll and pension services. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in payroll processing, system management, and stakeholder collaboration. The Payroll Specialist will act as a key point of contact within the organization, supporting payroll operations and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and compliance.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess at least three years of practical experience in UK and ROI payroll processing, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end payroll functions. Expertise in managing payroll using the iTrent platform is essential, with proven ability to process and deliver payroll accurately and efficiently. Professional qualifications such as a CIPP Payroll Technician certification or a Payroll Level 3 apprenticeship are highly desirable, reflecting a commitment to professional development. Strong communication and organizational skills are vital, enabling the candidate to build effective relationships across various business functions. Experience supporting change management, technology upgrades, and team training will be advantageous. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail are critical attributes for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll and pensions processes, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of weekly and monthly payrolls, auto-enrolment, pension contributions, and colleague expenses.
  • Manage daily payroll operations and data entry tasks using the iTrent platform, maintaining data integrity and compliance standards.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, statutory regulations, HMRC guidelines, and audit requirements, maintaining full compliance at all times.
  • Identify opportunities for process standardization and automation, implementing improvements to reduce manual intervention and increase operational efficiency.
  • Act as a primary contact for internal departments, external stakeholders, finance teams, and third-party providers, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • Support the Payroll Team Leader by providing operational assistance, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) are consistently met.
