Payroll Advisor
Location: Leeds, UK
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Contract: 12-month fixed-term contract
Overview
Our client is seeking a Payroll Advisor to support the accurate and timely delivery of monthly payroll across the UK and Dubai through an outsourced payroll provider.
This role combines hands-on payroll delivery with project work and continuous improvement. You will provide payroll guidance to employees, support benefits administration, contribute to month-end and year-end activities, and collaborate with international HR teams to improve processes, efficiency, and controls.
Responsibilities
- Support monthly outsourced payrolls for the UK and Dubai, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with statutory and internal audit requirements.
- Administer employee benefits, including salary sacrifice arrangements and pensions.
- Provide clear payroll guidance on PAYE, statutory requirements, compensation and benefits, pensions, and payroll policies.
- Support month-end and year-end activities, including reporting, reconciliations, financial data preparation, and third-party deductions.
- Work with HR and specialist teams to identify and implement payroll process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce risk.
- Contribute payroll expertise and technical knowledge to HR and wider business projects.
- Maintain current payroll knowledge through ongoing learning and professional development.

Requirements
- Experience supporting UK payroll processes within both outsourced and in-house models.
- Knowledge of statutory payroll requirements, month-end and year-end activities, data validation, benefits, and third-party deductions.
- Strong customer focus and the ability to provide accurate, clear payroll guidance.
- Experience building effective relationships with payroll providers, HR, Reward, managers, and other internal stakeholders.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines and service levels within a structured monthly payroll cycle.
- Experience identifying and contributing to payroll process improvements.
- Experience with payroll and HR systems such as ADP and Workday, plus strong Excel skills for analyzing, reconciling, and interpreting payroll data.
- Interest in using technology and AI to improve ways of working.
