Payroll Specialist
We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our People Team.
This is a permanent, full-time position, based on site at our Head Office in Wootton, Bedfordshire.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll play an important part in delivering an accurate, efficient, and customer-focused payroll service across the business. You’ll take ownership of day-to-day payroll activity, support our people with their queries, manage pensions and Driver Pay, complete month-end reporting, and work closely with the Payroll Manager and wider People Team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the efficient delivery of daily and monthly payroll processes, ensuring everything is completed accurately and on time.
- Taking ownership of the payroll inbox and responding to payroll-related queries in a helpful and professional manner.
- Managing and supporting end-to-end monthly payroll, including Driver Pay, pensions, and associated processes.
- Providing clear guidance to employees and managers on payroll, pension, and benefits-related queries.
- Working closely with the Payroll Manager and People Team to resolve queries and ensure a great experience for our people.
- Preparing and completing payroll-related Government statistics and reporting, including Gender Pay Reporting and ONS surveys.
- Keeping up to date with changes in payroll legislation and ensuring processes remain compliant.
- Producing and supporting month-end payroll reporting.
- Getting involved in ad hoc payroll projects and other activities as required.

What You’ll Bring
- At least 4 years’ experience in a similar payroll role.
- Experienced in the use of Workday, within a payroll environment.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of payroll processes and legislation.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately to tight deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent people and customer service skills, with the ability to support employees and managers in a friendly and professional way.
- Strong IT skills, including good working knowledge of Excel.
- The confidence to take ownership, manage your workload, and see tasks through to completion.
