International Payroll Project Specialist – EMEA (Contract)

Basildon, Essex, UK (5 days onsite)
£102,000 per hour (pro rata)
Contract until March 2027

My client is a multinational financial technology company providing innovative solutions to financial institutions around the world. We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Transition Specialist to support complex payroll transformation initiatives across EMEA. This is a hands-on delivery role focused on payroll transitions, vendor changes, testing, documentation, training, and operational stabilisation.

Key projects include payroll vendor transitions across Europe, alongside payroll system migrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end payroll transition and implementation activities
  • Develop and execute payroll testing strategies, UAT, validation, and parallel runs
  • Ensure payroll accuracy, reconciliation, and successful go-live delivery
  • Create payroll SOPs, procedures, and operational documentation
  • Deliver training and knowledge transfer to payroll teams
  • Partner with Payroll, HR, Finance, and external vendors to drive successful outcomes
  • Embed payroll controls, compliance requirements, and audit-ready processes

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience delivering payroll transitions and implementations
  • Strong operational payroll expertise in Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany
  • ADP Celergo Payroll experience
  • Hands-on experience with payroll testing, parallel runs, data validation, reconciliation, and vendor/platform migrations
  • Strong understanding of gross-to-net processing, statutory reporting, payroll controls, and audit requirements
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced, complex environments
