Job Description
What You’ll Do
(This is a fixed term contract opportunity.)
We want you to feel challenged and inspired. You’ll develop your skills across a range of key responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate and timely in-house payroll for 33,000+ UK and ROI colleagues, including end-to-end payroll processing and reconciliations.
- Support and deputise for the Payroll Manager, covering payroll sign-off, prioritising critical tasks, monitoring deadlines, and managing risks.
- Ensure compliance and audit readiness, maintaining strong knowledge of:
- Legislation
- Pensions
- Statutory returns
- Year-end processes
- Primark’s payroll policies
- Lead by example through:
- Managing complex payroll workloads with high attention to detail.
- Reviewing complex correspondence and processing third-party payments.
- Drive continuous improvement, including:
- Identifying efficiencies
- Supporting Business As Usual (BAU) projects
- Allocating resources effectively
- Partnering with global payroll teams
- Build strong relationships with:
- Payroll, compliance, governance, and wider business teams
- Coach and support team members while demonstrating Primark’s values.

What You’ll Bring

- Proven payroll expertise (minimum 5+ years), with a blend of:
- Hands-on knowledge of:
- SAP Payroll (UK)
- Mega Pay (ROI)
- Hands-on knowledge of:
- Strong technical and legislative knowledge across:
- Tax regulations
- Pensions
- Statutory returns
- Year-end payroll processes
- A problem-solving mindset, capable of:
- Leading by example
- Managing complex payrolls with precision
- Handling diverse payroll scenarios
