Role Description
The Payroll Supervisor is a full-time, on-site position based in Hertfordshire. This role oversees day-to-day payroll operations, including reviewing and processing payroll runs, ensuring accuracy of employee data, and resolving payroll issues in a timely manner. The supervisor coordinates with clients to gather and validate payroll information, manages statutory deductions and benefits, and ensures compliance with UK payroll and pension regulations. Responsibilities include supervising payroll staff, monitoring workload and deadlines, implementing process improvements, and maintaining detailed records and reports for audits and regulatory requirements. The Payroll Supervisor also collaborates with accounting and HR contacts, addresses escalated queries, and supports training and development within the payroll team.

Qualifications

- Strong skills in Payroll Administration and Payroll Taxes, with experience managing end-to-end payroll cycles.
- Knowledge of CIS and Employee Benefits, including statutory deductions, pension schemes, and related compliance.
- Solid understanding of Accounting principles as they relate to payroll, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Experience with UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, and The Pension Regulator guidelines.
- Proficiency with payroll software and Excel, and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and a focus on accuracy and confidentiality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to supervise and support a small team.
- Relevant professional qualification or certification in payroll or accounting is preferred; prior experience in a supervisory or senior payroll role is highly beneficial.
